Hardie Board Siding Installation on Custom Addition
For this custom addition project, our team was hired to install new James Hardie siding. Early on, there was a lot of discussion about whether to use Hardie panels or Hardie lap boards. Both are excellent options, but after weighing the aesthetics and long-term performance, the homeowner chose Hardie boards.
The Challenge
- Blend the new addition seamlessly with the existing home.
- Choose the right siding style to complement the architecture.
- Deliver both durability and a beautiful finish.
Our Process
- Siding Selection
We guided the homeowner through the pros and cons of Hardie panels vs. Hardie lap siding. Panels can give a modern, clean-lined look, while lap siding provides more traditional curb appeal. In the end, the homeowner felt lap siding would make the addition look like it had always been part of the house.
- Installation
- Installed Hardie lap boards with precision for clean, straight lines.
- Integrated flashing and moisture barriers to ensure long-term protection against Northwest weather.
- Paid attention to trim and transitions so the new siding tied seamlessly into the existing structure.
- Exterior Painting
Once the siding was in place, we completed the project with a fresh coat of professional exterior paint. The finish not only enhances curb appeal but also adds another layer of weather protection.
The Results
The new addition now looks like it was part of the original house design. With Hardie board siding and high-quality exterior paint, the home has both beauty and long-term durability. The owner was thrilled with the transformation — and so were we.
